Fremantle summer walk is an original painting looking down High Street in Fremantle to the Round house.

The orient

Built by Atkin and Law in 1902/03, the building was owned by Thomas O'Beirne. Since it was built it has continued to be a hotel though it has had a number of proprietors including the Parry family from 1923 to 1971. Restoration works have been carried out on the building a number of times.

Overview

Fremantle is a port city in Western Australia that's part of the Perth metropolitan area. It's known for its maritime history, Victorian architecture and remnants from Australia's days as a British penal colony. Fremantle Prison, which housed convicts from the 1850s to 1991, now features re-created cellblocks. The 12-sided Round House, a landmark 1831 building, also briefly functioned as a jail.
